Support us

You can support the Pope County Historical Society in many ways, with your time, talents and treasure.

There are numerous volunteer opportunities ranging from an afternoon of painting or weeding, to creating a new exhibit. Whatever your talent, we can use you. We always have typing and filing, photography, data entry, research, sewing, conservation work, handy-man type projects, and marketing & fund raising needs that could use your help.

We appreciate financial assistance, of course. The best way to start is by becoming a member. Individual annual memberships are $15, family memberships are $3o. A lifetime individual membership is $100. That money goes into our endowment fund and will help support the Historical Society throughout your life – and beyond.

Financial gifts can be sent to:
Pope County Historical Society
809 South Lakeshore Drive
Glenwood, MN 56334
Or via Paypal to our e-mail addrss: popecountymuseum (at) gmail.com

You could also consider a lasting legacy by naming us in your will or life insurance policy.

We also accept donations of artifacts relating to Pope County History. Information for your personal, business, and organization files are always welcome, as are photos of Pope County events, buildings, and residents past and present.

All artifact donations are considered by the Collection Committee. They take into account the item’s relevance to Pope County History, its condition, if there are other similar objects already in the collection, whether we can safely and reasonably store and display the item, and whether it has supporting information. Supporting information could include details on who made or used the item,  photos of the item in use, receipts etc.

At this time, we are especially interested in more modern pieces – from the 1950’s to today. Remember, someday the things we use today will be 100 years old too.

After all, what is the present but the future’s past?

Do you have Villard High School newspapers (Newsreel) for years 1938 to 1942? If so, how can I purchase copies of these papers?
